HomeStar
Games started in 2000 in a small office space in
the
spare bedroom of our home in Shoreline, Washington.
It was founded on the dream of sharing with you
our passion for space exploration and love for playing
traditional board and card games with family and
friends.
Our mission at HomeStar Games is to help foster a
new generation of space exploration enthusiasts
by
creating space science games that are educational
and fun to play. We aim to achieve this objective
by providing you with the highest quality space science
educational games available. We will also contribute
a portion of the proceeds from our games to several
nonprofit space advocacy organizations and their
scholarship funds.
Planetaire-The Grand Tour card game
is the first release of four new space science games
that are currently under testing and production by
HomeStar Games. We anticipate releasing our new games
over the next five years. So please stay tuned
for more out of this world fun and games
from HomeStar!
HomeStar
Games is dedicated to supporting the future of space
exploration through our contributions to several
nonprofit space advocacy organizations. We have
chosen The Planetary
Society of Pasadena, California to receive 10% of
the Net Proceeds from the sale of each Planetaire-The
Grand Tour card game. So when you purchase Planetaire™,
a portion of the purchase price goes to help The
Planetary Society promote exploration of the Solar
System.
The Planetary Society was founded in 1979 by the late
Carl Sagan, Bruce Murray, and Lou Friedman. It is
a public-interest organization dedicated to planetary
exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life.
The Society has over 100,000 members in over 140 countries,
making it one of the largest space-interest groups
on the planet.

Planetaire-The
Grand Tour card game was created by the founder
of HomeStar Games, Brad Curtis. Born at the dawn
of
the space age, Brad has grown up with a deep abiding
passion for astronomy, space exploration, and
manned
space flight.
Brad is an avid collector of space memorabilia and
owns nearly every game about astronomy and space
ever produced. He invented his first space science
game when he was 10 years old and has created several
games about football and auto racing. In the last
seven years he has devoted his creative energies
to inventing four games about space science, of which,
Planetaire™ is the first to be brought to market.
He says, “Having played games about space
my whole life, I have found that most of them were
either targeted at young children or required prior
knowledge about space and science to advance in the
game. This is certainly one form of education. I
wanted to create space science games that were visually
appealing, where the emphasis was on having fun,
and learning was a byproduct of play. It is our objective
to produce quality games with strategic game play
that appeals to players of all age groups and knowledge
levels. Hopefully, we have achieved this with Planetaire™.”
After graduating from the University of Washington,
Brad served as the Exploration Geologist for the
Inupiat
Eskimos in Arctic, Alaska. There he led some of
the first private mineral exploration programs
across
the north flank of the Brooks Range Mountains. He
later served as Land and Resource Manager for
the
Athabascan Natives of south central Alaska, before
returning home to Seattle to pursue his dream
of creating and producing educational books and
games.
A longtime member of The Planetary Society, the
National Space Society, The Mars Society, and the
Astronomical Society of the Pacific, Brad lives with
his wife of over 25 years, Vicki, in Shoreline,
Washington.
